Raffle Time!

Hi there you veggie lovin’ folks!

We’re starting a new month—holy smokes! August is here and it feels like it’s time to have a raffle. I don’t know if you all remember how we do a raffle farmers’ market style, but we have two happy winners every 30 minutes! One kid and one adult will walk away with a prize—EVERY half an hour. You have two ways to get raffle tickets. You can either buy them from the Puente booth for $1 a pop (or 6 for $5) OR you can shop and buy groceries and the vendors will give you a ticket for every $5 dollars you spend at their stand. Kiddos will have exercise options to receive their tickets (jumping jacks, jump ropes, hula hoops, push ups). It’s not a market to miss!

The vendor line up for this week consists of: Blue House Farm—who are bringing cantaloupes (by far my favorite thing sold at the market). Fly Girl Farm will be bringing more and more of their dry-farmed Early Girl tomatoes! Finn from Steadfast Herbs will be coming back selling their tinctures, salves, and bath salts. I’ve been using my tincture to help with motion sickness—it’s working!!

We’ll also have Monique with Open Eye Creations. She makes mirrors, candle holders, coat hangers…all out of driftwood. Todd with State Street Honey will be coming back providing the sweetness that we all can’t resist.

John Henry Band will be playing music for us and the HMB Library will be taking care of children’s activities! Also POST, one of our market sponsors, will be tabling at the market.

Don’t forget about free bike repair…

There’s so many reasons to come to the market…see you there!

Corridos con Banda at the Market!

Hi Pesky People!!

We’re coming up on week #9 and we couldn’t be happier with how the market is going so far. It’s that time of the season when we invite some special market friends to come play for us. Community members Miguel y Margarito are coming with their guitars to give us some sweet corridos en español. If you’re not accustomed to corridos then bring your dancing shoes and try something new!

This week’s lineup for the market is…

Blue House Farm, who has been rocking all the greens, and especially the green beans! Fly Girl Farm are now bringing TOMATOES. Not just any tomatoes, but Early Girl dry-farmed tomatoes (so sweet on the inside, but with a tougher outer skin.) They also are bringing my favorite flower– sunflowers!! Farmageddon will be coming back bringing eggs. They’ve sold out the last two times at the market so if you want eggs come early! State Street Honey is bringing the sweetness and Open Eye Creations is bringing driftwood art.

HMB Library is bringing the button maker and books again! Also Liz Gatt is bringing materials to make ‘fire breathing dragons’ !! Every will be repairing bikes as she always does (got my flat fixed last week!)

It’s the last market of July. Hope to see you there!

New vendor! Steadfast Herbs comes to the Market!

Hi Pesky folks! We’re coming up on market number 8 this week- it feels like the season is flying by! It’s definitely the middle of summer and our farmers are extra busy harvesting all their crops. I just got word that Blue House just had their first ripe melon- that glorious time is coming soon.

The lineup for this week’s market is: Blue House and Fly Girl Farm. We also have our honey man coming with State Street Honey and Monique with Open Eye Creations. This week we have a new vendor bringing variety to the market and they’re locals! Steadfast Herbs is making their debut bringing teas, tinctures, salves, herb-infused honeys, salts, vinegars, and soap! Cool right?! You have to come check them out!

Local DJ Larry T will be providing tunes for the market. HMB library will be leading children’s activities, and the Puente promatoras will be at the market sharing health advice and signing people up for appointments for Puente’s medical clinic.

Can’t forget- our bike mechanic will be there like always ready to give your bike a tune up.

Thursday at 3 PM- see you all there!

Meat at the Market!

Wow- what a market last week! Never have I ever had more fun watching karaoke- crowd participation was awesome! If you enjoyed the local’s concert and think you’d like to try out the next one- it will be September 1st- so put it on your calendar and email Charlea and [email protected] for more details.

We’re coming into week 7 of our season and I’m impressed on how full our markets have been. Thank you to everyone who is coming out to support our local farmers and musicians! Let me tell you who we have coming this week…

Blue House and Fly Girl Farm will be bringing the veggies/ flowers like usual. Farmageddon will have eggs and garlic! Left Coast Grass Fed will be selling beef and also pork from the Willow Farm. Open Eye Creations will be rocking the driftwood art as well.

Lily, Puente’s public health nurse, will be at the market taking blood pressure readings. Pie Ranch will be leading children’s activities and our tunes will be provided by a band called ‘Nothing, but Fun.’- they always play good dancing music so make sure to bring appropriate shoes 😉

Don’t forget about Every doing bike repair- I’m bringing mine in this week for a tune up!!
